icon Blazify is a music player for Android devices, built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. It streams from YouTube Music as you want, keeps what you want for offline listening when you do not have internet, and follows the words as they are sung, with no ads, no disturbance and no account required. You can sign in with Google for better song recommendations if you want to, and there is no tracking. Every service it talks to is listed under Privacy.

Listening

* Millions of songs, searched by name or found by browsing: songs, albums, artists, playlists and videos
* Gapless playback, with the next track prepared ahead
* Download anything for offline listening, or let it keep songs as you play them
* Play the music already on your phone, beside everything else, in the same queue and the same player
* A queue that you can reorder by dragging, save as a playlist, or start a radio from
* Sleep timer, with an end-of-track option
* Don't play this song: keep a song out of queues, radio and suggestions
* Double-tap to seek on every player, and podcasts that keep their own speed
* A Quick Settings play/pause tile, and shortcuts for Liked, Downloads and Shuffle
* Save data on mobile networks, and download only on Wi-Fi

Sound

* Ten-band equalizer with a live frequency-response curve and 13 presets
* Preamp control, each preset pre-compensated so boosts never clip
* Bass boost, surround and reverb
* Volume levelling between songs
* Skip silence, playback speed and pitch

Lyrics

* Time-synced lyrics with word-by-word highlighting
* Several sources, asked in an order you choose
* Translation and romanisation
* A full-screen view, and lyric cards you can share as an image

Look and feel

* Material 3 with Material You dynamic colour
* Colour taken from the album artwork, accent only or the whole screen
* Several player designs to choose between, with a live preview while you pick
* Light, dark, pure-black, or whatever the system is doing

Library and sharing

* Liked songs, listening history, your own playlists and a Top 50 built from what you actually play
* Listen Together: share a room code and play in sync with friends
* Playlist import from a file or a link
* last.fm scrobbling and Discord presence, both optional and with your own credentials
* Music recognition: hold up your phone and name what is playing
* Android Auto and home-screen widgets
* Back up your whole library to a single file and restore it on another device

Privacy

Blazify has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking libraries of any kind. Signing in is entirely optional. Everything except your personal YouTube Music library works signed out.

It talks to YouTube Music and Google's video servers; to PipePipe's decoder (api.pipepipe.dev), which gets only YouTube's player version and the scrambled stream values; to Blazify's own repository for a table of player settings (raw.githubusercontent.com, cdn.jsdelivr.net); and to lyrics providers for the song playing. Anything else only when you turn it on, such as the Japanese reading dictionary for romanized Japanese lyrics, which is downloaded once from Maven Central (repo1.maven.org) only after you agree to it.

One thing worth stating plainly, because it is the only time the app sends anything about your own files anywhere: when you scan the music on your phone, any track whose file carries no cover art has its title looked up online so a picture can be found. Files that already have artwork are never sent. It can be turned off, and turning it off only costs you the missing covers.

WhatsNew:

New: half the download size, sync a song's plain lyrics yourself by tapping along, the next songs are saved on Wi-Fi so music keeps going with no connection, Home's shuffle, For you and Speed dial play your saved songs when offline, and Remove from queue in a song's menu.

Fixed: songs stopping about 30 seconds in, the search screen after deleting a search, Last.fm, Discord status, shuffle with crossfade, and more.

anti Anti-Features:
  • NonFreeNet (this application promotes/depends a non-Free network service):
    ⇒ Streams from YouTube Music. Stream addresses are decoded with PipePipe's decoder service (api.pipepipe.dev), which receives only YouTube's player version and the scrambled values. A table of YouTube player settings is downloaded from GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com, mirrored on cdn.jsdelivr.net). Lyrics come from LRCLIB, KuGou, Paxsenix and similar providers. Optional features use other non-free services (Last.fm, song recognition, Discord, AI translation with your own key). From 9.18.0, an optional Japanese reading dictionary (kuromoji-ipadic, for romanized Japanese lyrics) is downloaded once from Maven Central (repo1.maven.org) only after the user agrees, and its SHA-256 is checked.

While you can download the APKs here directly, you should preferably use an F-Droid client so the app stays up-to-date on your device.
