Voice is a calm audiobook player for people who love stories and bring their own books.

Pick the folder with your audiobooks. Voice shows you the books it finds, adds them to your library, and remembers your place in every one. Then it gets out of the way, so you can just listen.

A player that matches your book

The player takes its colors from the cover of the book you're listening to
Voice remembers your place in every book
Playback speed, skip silence, and volume boost for quiet recordings
Jumped too far? One tap takes you back
Auto rewind after a pause, so you don't lose the thread

Fall asleep to a story

Sleep timer with a gentle fade-out, or stop at the end of the chapter
Shake your phone right after the timer ends to restart it
A calm night look while the timer runs

Never lose your place

Save a moment with a long press, and add a name or a note later
Mark bookmarks as favorites, quotes, notes, or places to revisit
Your listening history shows every play, pause, and jump, so you can always find your way back
If your car, headphones, or watch started a book, Voice offers to take you back

Your library, your way

Continue listening right from the top of your library
Books sorted into current, not started, and completed
Search by title and author
List and grid views
Covers from the file, your phone, or an online search
Home screen widgets: Now playing and Shelf
Media notification and Android Auto
Light and dark theme, Dynamic color, and color schemes to make Voice yours
Available in 25 languages

Bring your own files

Voice plays DRM-free audiobooks such as M4B, MP3, M4A, OGG, OGA, and OPUS. Keep your books in folders the way you like. A folder can hold a single book or your whole library, and Voice organizes it for you.

Just you and your stories

No account
No ads
Nothing behind a paywall
Your books stay on your device

If you enjoy Voice, you can support it from the settings. It's a thank-you and unlocks nothing.

Voice is open source under the GNU GPLv3 license.

Hint: This app is available in both, F-Droid Main and IzzyOnDroid repos.

While you can download the APKs here directly, you should preferably use an F-Droid client so the app stays up-to-date on your device. Some clients have this repo enabled by default, e.g. Neo Store, Droid-ify, or, of course, the IzzyOnDroid client by Sunil. With others (like the official client) you'll have to add this repo manually (see the hint on top of the package list for how to do that).
