WD Cable creates a private local link between nearby devices using Wi-Fi Direct. Once connected, the devices share one app session for chat, file transfer, speed testing, and audio.
No internet, router, hotspot, account, or cloud service is required. The connection stays local between the participating devices.
Features:
The Android app can connect to another Android device running WD Cable. A separate Windows companion client is also available for Android-to-Windows workflows, including using an Android device as a local microphone sender.
Version 2.0.1 uses Protocol v2 and is not compatible with Protocol v1 builds. Both devices must run WD Cable 2.0.1 or another Protocol v2-compatible build.
Requires Android 13 or newer. Release APKs support arm64-v8a and x86_64 devices; 32-bit armeabi-v7a devices are not supported.
WD Cable is designed for offline peer-to-peer experiments, local transfer, quick device-to-device testing, and private nearby sharing.
