Sable is a Matrix client built to enhance the user experience with quality-of-life features, cosmetics, utilities, and sheer usability. It is a fork of Cinny.
Features:
- End-to-end encrypted messaging, with encrypted push notification previews decrypted on-device
- Push without Google Play Services, through UnifiedPush
- Voice and video calls over MatrixRTC
- Spaces, threads, and forum rooms
- Customisable app icons, themes, and a configurable GIF provider
- Message reporting, forwarding, and read-receipt controls
Sable is free software licensed under the AGPL-3.0. Crash reporting is opt-in and disabled until you consent.
WhatsNew:
- Fix Android SSO and QR approval pages not opening. Show an error if a QR approval page cannot be opened.
- Use popups for OAuth and QR login on desktop and web, and in-app browsers on mobile. Add automatic closure and a desktop browser fallback.
- Open profile avatars and banners in the media viewer throughout the app.
- Notify room members about calls on homeservers without sticky events.
- Open the existing DM when a chat link is opened during startup.
While you can download the APKs here directly, you should preferably use an F-Droid client so the app stays up-to-date on your device. Some clients have this repo enabled by default, e.g. Neo Store, Droid-ify, or, of course, the IzzyOnDroid client by Sunil. With others (like the official client) you'll have to add this repo manually (see the hint on top of the package list for how to do that).
